I enjoy music and the workshop has helped me and gave me the opportunity to perform within a group,
working with other musicians. It showed me how difficult it can be rehearsing for a gig with a large group. I feel that I got the most out of the song writing workshops.

I am so thankful for attending this workshop and I am so grateful to the professional musician's
Clive, Nicky, John Linley and all of the others involved with giving me their time and knowledge. I have gained so much experience in all aspects of the music industry, including guitar playing, Bass, Drums, vocals,
and recording and how to work with musicians in the industry.
I have made so many new friend and have had the opportunity to write my own music, play in a band
and perform in-front people in a live environment. Not only this but we were given a CD with all of the music we wrote and played which we can use as a demo to show to people in the industry, which is fantastic.
Once again I would like to thank everyone involved, thank you for giving me a stepping stone to the future.

I feel that this music for work course is excellent, its gives you so much information from song
writing to paly techniques right up to the business side of things, such as publishing and copyrights, it is a must for anyone wanting a career in the music industry!

I feel that this course has been very interesting and informative throughout, I enjoyed the
recording process that was implemented. I found that I would have liked to focus upon more original songs rather than the covers we did. I would also have liked a set opportunity to ask some quesons in relation to
different aspects of music, especially theory.
I really enjoyed the performance aspect of the course. I would have liked the business aspect to
have taken place before the originals where recorded as it would be easier to perform them when they are fresh in your mind.

I love to perform and the workshop has given me this wonderful opportunity. It is very beneficial to
all music lovers. it has given me an insight to all aspects of the industry from the recording and performing side to the business side. I really enjoyed being shown how to set up pa systems which makes me feel a
lot more comfortable about taking part in a gig, which I feel is the next step for me.
The song writing was also very valuable, at the beginning I found I was struggling with it but the
information I was given has made me more confident.
I feel that this workshop is a great way to enhance your musical knowledge no matter what stage of
musicianship you are at. Personally for me it has gave me the confidence to promote myself and my own music.

The Making Music Workshop provided me an excellent way to develop my singing and writing skills. I
found that the course was very beneficial, although unfortunately I missed the first week which covered music theory, but the rest was fantastic.
I enjoyed the chance it gave me working with other musician's, with a variety of ages, experiences and ideas, and the mobile recording studio was brilliant which was able to give me a demo of my work.
What also benefited me was the various tutorials, as a singer, I feel that I was lacking knowledge
of other instruments, so I found the drums and rhythms tutorials very interesting.
It was great to work with other musicians and I hope to do so again, my only disappointment was that
although the venue was well suited to our needs, it was very cold and poorly lit. Also at times classes started a bit late and this set a standard for the students constantly arriving late. Overall it was an
excellent course and could do with more advertising!

I felt that the course was very beneficial and I received a lot of sound and helpful advice about
all aspects of the music industry and vital information on playing gigs as well as style and technique. I found that the covers and original tracks week was very enjoyable and a valuable experience, my only regret
is that not enough time was spent on originals and I would have liked to do at least one of the cover songs in my own style.
Anna Rhodes
I found this course to be a great opportunity to work with such well established musicians. I think
it could have improved by having a more individual instrument tuition for those who would like extra help.
I think all the tutors were great and they did a brilliant job helping all of the students.

The Hamlyn Foundation has been a huge help on putting me on the right track to
get me into the music industry.
I wouldn't be anywhere if it wasn't for John, Nicky, Clive and Linley. They have taught me everything from how to react in a working situation, how to record, how to compose properly and how to get myself gigs. There should definitely be more of these projects in the future.
Every workshop i have been a part of has been excellent, the standard of
musicians has been so high, and the people who were just starting out on there instrument had the same opportunities and encouragement as the people who have been studying there instrument for years.
If you don't believe me all you have to do is listen to the CDs.
