Making Music in Downpatrick 2008
Are you aged between 14-25 years old? Do you live in Downpatrick? Are you an aspiring rock and pop musician or just an interested beginner? Do you want an opportunity to learn the skills of performance, composition and recording from professional musicians? Downpatrick young people are being given a kick-start into the music industry through a free music programme thanks to funding from the Department for Social Development and the Neighbourhood Renewal Initiative.
Beginner Workshops - Two weekend workshops covering drums, guitar and vocals. Participants will form bands, write original material and learn cover songs to perform at a concert on the last workshop day to family and friends.
Advanced Workshops - Three weekend workshops (+ evening concert rehearsals) on composition and recording material with each band making a CD of their work. Participants will display their talent at a concert for invited agents, venue managers, arts officers, community groups etc!
