Newtownabbey LSP Working through Music

The Making Music Workshop Limited in conjunction with Newtownabbey BSP announced a major new initiative. Which took place from October 2006 - November 2006. It is was staged in Merville Garden Village and and is was open to anyone over the age of fifteen. Commitment was for six weekends and places are available for twenty people.

The course was a real learning experience in composition, recording and group performance, with participants leaving with a ‘Working through Music’ folio which included: a demo CD, promotional photograph, a group website and a business pack containing industry information.

Over the duration of the course participants:

  • · Formed bands under supervision
  • · Wrote original music
  • · Received practice and development advice and music theory text instruction
  • · Recorded original tunes to CD
  • · Learned to set up and use a sound system
  • · Gained Experience in music technology
  • · Received a practical pack for Music at Work including PR photographs, list of venues, agents, managers, corporate contacts and contact details for the musicians union and other professional bodies
  • · Took part in a concert at Flowerfield Arts Centre.
