Strabane and District Community Network Newtownstewart/Plumbridge 

 ‘Youth Music Project’ 2007                                                                                                                                                                    

The Making Music Workshop Limited in conjunction with Strabane and District Community Network (S&DCN) and Part financed by the European Union announced a major new initiative called ‘Youth Music Project’ which commenced at the beginning of 2007. It was staged in Newtownstewart and was open to anyone over the age of fifteen. The course ran for a period of six weekends. The course was a real learning experience in composition, recording and group performance, with participants leaving with a demo CD, promotional photograph, a group website and useful industry advice. Over the duration of the course participants:

• · Form bands under supervision
• · Write original music
• · Receive practice and development advice and music theory text instruction
• · Record original tunes to CD
• · Learn to set up and use a sound system
• · Gain Experience in music technology
• Receive a practical pack for ‘Youth Music Project’
